Danish newspaper Politiken names 2009 World Outgames as event of the year:

Okay, it’s official: the 2009 World Outgames has been selected as the 2009 Copenhagen Event of the Year. The selection won by the narrowest of victories, just 13 votes, over the Greenpeace crashing of the Queen’s dinner party. The decision was presented by a jury organized by the Danish newspaper Politiken after an online poll for the best event of 2009 and the World Outgames was one of the contenders in the poll.

It has been confirmed. After intense negotiations involving mounds of Danish pastries, expensive designer handbags, and a set of brand new pumps, the Comtesse de Large will grace the shores of Lake Bagsvaerd during the special cultural component of the regatta.

Due to overwhelming demand, the organizing committee has sourced enough boats to offer the coxed fours (4+) category in the 1,000m. sprint competition. The 4+ boats will replace the inrigger 4+ originally planned for the event in the 1,000 m. sprint competition.

A new category, coxless pairs (2-) will be added to the sprint competition if there is enough interest.
