The regatta will offer two "levels" of racing: participation-based where crews are drawn from a random pool and open events where crews can self select, or be drawn from the pool. The participation based events will most likely be held in regulation boats (known in the northern hemisphere as C boats). The quad event may be an exception to this category. The following are the projected boat categories: 1x MF (participation and open) 4x+ MFX (participation and open) 4+ MF (participation and open) 8+ MFX (participation and/or just open) Racing will be run over a 400m. course in a time trial format with the two fastest crews in each category racing off for gold and silver medals. It is envisioned that racing will begin around 4.30pm and finish by 7.00pm.
