About Me

I started rowing in college, and was completely closeted. Rowing was a life-changing sport for me... I learned I could not only be an athlete, but actually excel and be a respected leader among athletes. \r\n\r\nI am now out of the closet, rowing on a masters team in Boston, and coaching a high school rowing team.\r\n\r\nLife is good!
  1. Stu,

I'm organizing a meetup group, Boston Gay Rowers. It's going to be social, rather than a boat. It would be great if you could come, and if you could spread the word.

  2. Oops lol! Well thanks for the heads up! Do you have any idea what events they will be offering, and if so, will that list of events be posted here? Thanks again for the information. Stu
  3. Fellow Athletes, Getting excited about the outgames in Antwerp, and I'm interested in finding some other masters rowers who want to participate. I'll be 45 as of the regatta next year, port, I pull a 6:40 2K on the erg, many years rowing and coaching experience, and I love to compete. I don't know what the age breakdowns will be, if any, or whether everyone of every age are all competing against one another. (And maybe it's too early to start this discussion?) Any other Bostonians interested in getting a crew together? I might have another guy from my home team who rows starboard... We could be really fast by next year! Stunami
  4. Fellow LGBT Rowers and Coxswains, Growing club with boathouse on the Mystic River in Somerville (Boston, MA area) is recruiting rowers and coxswains for our adult competitive program. We offer everything from Learn2Row/Learn2Cox and corporate teamwork programs through strong competitive rowing crews practicing in mornings and/or evenings. We are specifically looking for a few good men and women who can help us fill out our evening competitive program for boats competing in the Master's Nationals in Worcester in August. We currently have a number of gay members including my sexy self, and would love to have some more! We have a great coach, nice racing shells, a decent spot on the river, with a new boathouse coming in 2014, and we are building ourselves into a competitve force in the area. Come on out, and let's build something together!! Reply to this thread for more information. Stu Gentle Giant Rowing Club http://www.gentlegiantrowing.org
