About Me
Hi!
My name is Scott, pretty open and gregarious guy here.
Moved to Vancouver from Seattle in 2006 to live with my then Canadian partner (now husband). We now live in New Westminster along the Fraser River with our bull terrier, Emily.
Rowed on the Gonzaga University team in Spokane, WA. After moving to Seattle, participated in Seattle Park and Rec's great rowing program on Green lake and did sculling for first time: loved it.
Background in health care and journalism. Freelance writer for VERS, a GLBT online magazine based in Vancouver (versmagazine.com) covering gay history, sports, health care and older GLBT community; and Den Danske Pioneer, a Danish American paper outside of Chicago.
Past community involvement includes PR for the AIDS Quilt, Seattle; county co-chairperson for Hands-Off Washington, Snohomish County, an organization to fight homophobia; covered gay faith for the weekly Seattle gay paper; president of the Seattle Chapter of National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association; Interim Director of Communications for Integrity, the national GLBT organization of Episcopalians.
Think I have found a new rowing club to join, Nikomekl (Ni-ko-mic-el) Rowing Club, Surrey, BC. If there are any GLBT rowers in the Vancouver/Victoria areas would really like to connect.

You know, it really never dawned on me until just recently - how dense is this? - about the double entendre of my name 'yankinbc' Just wanted a short moniker about being an American living in B.C....lol

Oh my god... talk about not seeing the forest for the trees. Ever since you registered, I thought your online id was strange. Was it sexual. Just figured it out: a yankee in british columbia..
Some of us are slower than others ... *sigh*

Hey Scott,
Thanks for your support of GLRF through your OnTheWater membership subscription.
We really appreciate it.
Cheers,
Brian

Thanks for that membership bit of info.
Think we could do a pr campaign in and outside rowing clubs in Vancouver to garner new members, provide a new nucleus for GLRF presence in Vancouver area. Willing to help get it off the ground / do leg work...
