Sydney Frontrunners President Rob Roelofs was pleased to announce to the club members and their friends recently that the 2016 Little Black Dress run had raised $31,644 for Twenty10. This will cover the cost of a part-time counsellor for the young clients of Twenty10 for one year, which is a magnificent achievement for our community and their supporters.

The LBD run was held in February with over 200 runners/walkers dressing in their best black dresses and sauntering around Darling Harbour. The long-running charity fun run is held annually as part of the Mardi Gras festival with participants raising funds each year for a deserved community project.

“Next year we will aim to increase that figure and once again involve the whole community,” Rob said.

Frontrunners are about to celebrate their 33rd anniversary. That is a lot of kilometres for the members who participate in a number of weekly runs. And the club is well placed in their winter season for distance runs. The recent SMH Half marathon was a big event for the club with over 25 members finishing the 21.1km loop around the city. Quite a few personal bests were attained but most runners just wanted to finish and hold their medals proudly in recognition of their achievement.

Club coach Wayne Morgan is now focussing on the City to Surf in August and lots of members will soon be hitting the hills as part of their training programme. And it's not all running – social events like lawn bowls is being planned for late June. Always a laugh – bowls will be a fun activity accompanied with a few drinks on the greens!

If you are interested in joining the City to Surf squad come along any Saturday morning – there is a 5km at 9am, an 8km at 8.30am or for hardy runners a 12km at 8.00am.

Running not your thing? Just starting out? The club has a walking group that circles the park starting at 8.30am.

All runs/walks commence from the centre of Centennial Park at the kiosk next to the duck ponds on Parkes Drive. And the club finishes in the same spot and enjoy a coffee and food before socialising and planning the next run/walk. Every run is lead by an experienced runner to make sure you finish.

Regular runs are held on Saturday mornings, Monday evening training squad and a 5km run on Wednesday evening.
