Brisbane Hustlers strip in new calendar to raise funds for 2016 Bingham Cup in Nashville - Australia Gay News Network

Queensland’s gay rugby union club the Brisbane Hustlers have their sights set firmly on the 2016 Bingham Cup, which will be held in Nashville, USA.

It will be the club’s second appearance at the international tournament, sometimes referred as the ‘World Cup of Gay Rugby’.

To help the club get there, the Hustlers have launched their first-ever calendar. Funds raised will go towards supporting the club and its members on their 2016 Bingham Cup campaign.

Player and club brand manager, Dale Napier, said the process of shooting the calendar has been exciting for the team.

“Most of the guys were really nervous as they’ve never had a photo taken completely nude like this before – but once they saw how the images turned out they were ready to do it all again!”

Napier said the club wanted to break away from the standard fundraising calendar fare and instead use imagery that was colourful and striking, which better represents the club’s culture.

“Most fundraising calendars go for a black and white ‘artsy’ feel,” Napier said.

“We wanted to completely blow that cliché out of the water and make it really unique”.

The calendars will also benefit local LGBTI organisations with 10 percent of proceeds donated to Queensland AIDS Council (QuAC) and Open Doors Youth Service.
