This short bit of news was relayed from GLRF member @chirojoe:

GLRF member @rowrgrl, Elisabeth, returns as Regatta Director, you're stuck with me for one more year as Registrar (I know, I said that last year, and the year before that, and the year before that...) and Sue Jacoby returns also as my fabulous Deputy Registrar because she loves hunting down the folks who don't sign waivers.

New This Year: Unfortunately, NOT a re-opened M Street. At least that's what the construction people tell us, so that awesome detour getting to the boathouse will still be in effect until later in June. *sigh*

So Instead.....Heat sponsorships are available. Celebrate a loved one, promote an event, market a future regatta, make up for that anniversary/birthday/valentine's day you forgot last year, the possibilities are endless. Click here for more details, though I will say the Novice M1X Superhero Edition is off the table. It's mine!

Registration for the 2014 Stonewall Regatta is ongoing and will close at 23h59, on Saturday, 24 May 2014.

For those really last minute procrastinators, we recommend that you interpret 23h59 to mean East Coast time!

And for those of you who are really really hard core procrastinators, you can still register for the regatta after the deadline. Here is the information:

Late Registration will be available for any events with open lanes left until 11:59PM,Tuesday night, May 27th. Late Registration fee of $15 will be added. At that time, events not having at least two entries from at least two different clubs will be canceled and fees for those events refunded, at the discretion of the registrar (for instance, last year, the WN4+ had two entries only, from the same team. This race was allowed to proceed as no one wants to deny a novice the chance for their first medal).

blog-0355733001369501379.jpgUpdate from the talented and he-who-has-a-wicked-smile @chirojoe:

Just a quick reminder that the registration deadline is approaching for Stonewall Regatta. You have till midnight Saturday night. Late registration will be available through Tuesday but only in those heats that haven’t been filled up by other entrants (with complete lineups including birthdates for masters races).

A couple of things:

Parking, T-shirt, and food links are all updated on the Regatta Central site for your pre-consideration.

Please pass on the following to your club members (along with parking info):

  1. We’re looking to chronicle the past 19 years of regatta T-shirts. If any previous attendees have an old Stonewall t-shirt, please bring it and either wear it proudly or show it to us at the Command central/registration/results table. The prize for the oldest shirt is a free SRXX shirt.
  2. Don’t forget the hat race at the end of the day. Random lineups, 500 meter sprint, but rowers and coxes must wear some kind of hat/headwear, which must be able to pass safety inspection by the refs along with shoe ties and bow balls. Feel free to wear any other fabulous garb to row in, but we don’t want anyone being ejected by an crab due to clothing so make sure it’s safe!
  3. Encourage everyone to come to the coaches/coxswains/scullers meeting at the start of the day, as it will be like no other in regatta history (that we know of).

We will do our best to have preliminary heat sheets out late Monday night/early Tuesday morning.

The news is being relayed by the Stonewall Registrar @chirojoe who is apparently assisted by a Fabulous First Lieutenant, @suedisney.

The most fabulous online registration is open and taking all entries. The registrar wishes to remind all fabulous members of the rowing community that the race times are approximate and are based on the number of heats from the previous year.

If anyone is interested in a fabulous breakie, or wants to do lunch, please review the many options available this year.

In a delicious bit of fabulousness, there will be no entry caps or waiting lists for Stonewall Regatta XX.

Finally, in the most fabulous news to hit the mid-atlantic rowing region, Stonewall Regatta XX will finish the race events with a hat race! If you simply cannot resist, here are the details:

  • the race is a free-for-all 500m sprint for the ultimate in fabulousness,.
  • interested rowers and coxies may enter by placing their names in an absolutely fabulous hat,
  • you MUST be fabulously versatile; no strokeside side or bowside restrictions will be tolerated,
  • to race, you must wear some type of hat and it must be fabulous, which means ...
    1. your hat must be safe for use when rowing
    2. your hat must not impede your rowing movement
    3. your hat must pass the safety inspection by the referees as you head to the dock to launch (yes, they will check), so if it attaches with a chin strap, even better. As fabulous as rainbow boas look in chamber of the House of Representatives, the wonderful portions that 'hang' off your amazing body can get caught in the tracks.

From the race registrar:

Stats:

20 clubs (counting unafilliateds) and 424 athletes comprising 180 Crews in 48 Events

First time in my six years of doing this that I saw an actual photo finish – second place in the Mens Open 4+ - none of us at the finish line could make a judgement between 2nd and 3rd place.

Also a first was a tie after handicap for 2nd place in the Womens 1x.

Clubs with the most entries: Capital (35), Baltimore (19), DC Strokes (18)

7 Adaptive Events – Capital Adaptive with 7 entries and Athletes Without Limits with 11

Clubs with the highest win percentage of their entries: Potomac (81%), Capital Adaptive (43%), Baltimore (37%)

First place stats: percentages are first place finishes per # of that club’s entries

scullers (%): Potomac (63%) Baltimore (50%)

scullers (#): Potomac (5) Baltimore (3)

sweepers (%): Potomac (100%) Three Rivers (43%)

sweepers (#): Potomac (8) Capital (7)

women (%): Baltimore (42%) Rock Creek/Washington Rowing School (33%)

women (#): Baltimore & Capital (5)

men (%): Potomac (87%) Baltimore (40%)

men (#): Potomac (13) Baltimore (4)

Congratulations to Chicago Rowing Union for the distance award.

Contratulations to Three Rivers Rowing Association for the distance award for trailering.

Thank you to Anacostia Community Boathouse Association, as always, for their help. And a shout to Jen Nay for arranging the parking and Arend Fish for driving the directions in advcance.

Stonewall XIX Results

glrfcentral

As a reminder, the registration deadline for Stonewall Regatta XIX is 26 May 2012 at 23:59h. at Regatta Central.

The preliminary heat sheet will be published on Monday, 28 May 2012.

Waivers are due Thursday, 31 May 2012.

Due to the size of the regatta, some events are capped. Participants are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to enter boats for the WAIT LIST if the cap is reached - all attempts will be made to accommodate wait listed boats. Some events do get scratched due to lack of entries, so if an additional heat can be added without lengthening the day, it will be done.
